Frequently Asked Questions About Hare-Less
Q. How does "Hare-Less" work? A. Most critters don't like spicy food, and the hot pepper extract keeps them away from whatever you spray it on. The pepper gets on the critters fur, stings their mouth, nose and eyes. Animals will learn to associate the pain of hot pepper with whatever area is sprayed.
You should spray any plants you want to protect, but you can also spray the paths used by certain animals (like the tops of fences squirrels may use). You can also spray the ground to keep animals from digging. The pepper in the soil will sting the digging critters (including dogs, cats and skunks) by giving them a painful association with the area sprayed.
Q. Can I use "Hare-Less" to protect bird feeders? A. Yes. Spray the entire feeder including the seed. Also spray the ground around the feeder. The hot pepper will not bother the birds.
Q. Is "Hare-Less" safe to use where children play. A. Yes. The only precaution you will need to observe is to not spray into the wind when you apply it as the pepper spray is strongly irritating to eyes, nose and skin.
Q. How often do you need to apply "Hare-Less"? A. Once every couple of weeks. The new micro-encapulation formula resists rain although eventually rain will wash it off any surface. Q. Can I spray around the base of trees to keep squirrels off of them and off of my roof? A. This can sometimes work, but trimming your trees is the best solution.
Q. Is "Hare-Less" effective against other animals? A. "Hare-Less" is effective against chipmunks.
